WHICH SERVICE WILL WE PROVIDE YOU WITH
In arranging insurance for our customers, we act
as an Independent Intermediary (Broker) on your behalf.
We offer a full range of commercial insurance
products. Our service includes:
• Advising you on your commercial insurance needs
• Arranging your insurance cover with Insurers or via
another Intermediary to meet your requirements
• Helping you with any subsequent event or alteration
to your insurance
• Assisting you with any claim you need to make
We place insurance with a number of Insurers
and will advise you not only of the particular Insurer we
have placed cover with but also the terms and conditions applicable.
Similarly we will also advise full details should we place
your insurance through any other intermediary regulated by
the FSA.
We will provide a list of the insurance
companies with whom we conduct business with on request.
PROFESSIONAL INDEMNITY
We satisfy the FSA in respect of Professional Indemnity, which
is mandatory.
DATA PROTECTION
Unless required by law, public interest, our membership of
FSA or you give your consent, all personal information you
supply will be treated as private and confidential by us.
We will only use and disclose the information
about you in the normal course of arranging and administering
your insurance. We will not disclose any information to other
parties without your consent.
Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you
have the right to see personal information that we hold about
you in our records. If you require any information to be supplied
please write to us at the above address.
If you do not wish to receive marketing
information from us or any other parties we have disclosed
information to, for marketing purposes, please confirm this
by letter to us within 7 days.
Insurers pass information to the Claims
and Underwriting Exchange run by Insurance Database Services
Ltd and the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register
run by the Association of British Insurers. The aim is to
check information provided and also prevent fraudulent claims.
Motor insurance details are added to the
Motor Insurance Database run by the Motor Insurers’
Information Centre. This was created to help identify uninsured
drivers and may be searched by the Police to help confirm
who is insured to drive. In the event of an accident, Insurers
and the Motor Insurers Bureau may use the database to identify
policy information.
DOCUMENTS
We reserve the right to retain certain documents, such as
your Insurance Certificate or other policy documents, at this
office until all payments due under the policy have been made.
Any agreed facilities for payment of premiums
by instalments through us will be the subject of a written
agreement. By accepting this agreement, you agree that delivery
of any Certificates of Insurance to us shall constitute delivery
to yourself in accordance with statute law.
Should we withhold any documents we will
ensure you receive full details of your insurance cover and
provide you with any documents you are required to have by
law.
QUOTATIONS
Any quotation given will remain valid for a period of 30 days
from the date of issue of the quotation, unless otherwise
stated.
YOUR DUTY TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO INSURERS
It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate
information to us and your Insurers when you take out an insurance
policy, throughout the term of your policy and when you renew
the insurance.
We particularly draw your attention to
the importance of the declaration and signature on all Insurers’
proposal forms. Any failure to disclose material information
to your Insurers or any inaccuracies in your answers may invalidate
your insurance cover in part or in whole. This could mean
that part or your entire claim may not be paid.
Material facts are those facts an Insurer
would regard as likely to influence the acceptance and assessment
of your insurance. If you are in any doubt whether a fact
is material or not you should declare it either at Proposal
or Renewal.
You are advised to keep copies of documentation
sent to or received from us for your own protection
AWARENESS OF POLICY TERMS
When a Policy is issued, you are strongly advised to read
it carefully, as it is that document, the schedule and any
Certificate of Insurance that form the basis of the insurance
contract you have purchased. If you are in any doubt regarding
any of the policy terms or conditions, please seek our advice.
FEES AND CHARGES
We derive income from commission paid to us in respect of
transactions in General Insurance Products and will tell you
the amount of commission payable to us on any such contract
upon request.
In addition to premiums charged by the
Insurer we may make the following charges to cover our administrative
costs:
Fees for arranging insurance
Premium (£) : Fee (£)
0-100 : £10
101-200 : £20
201-500 : £25
501-1000 : £35
1001 plus : Advised at inception.
Mid term adjustment £10
Charges for arranging insurance
Should the insurance we have arranged be on a Net
or negligible commission basis we will apply an administration
charge, which will be clearly shown on the quotation or renewal
letter.
We will disclose to you any payment we
receive for providing or securing any additional insurance
related services.
PAYMENT OF INVOICES
We have arranged an exclusive instalment payment
scheme with Close Brothers, details of charges and terms are
available on request.
Should you choose to settle your account
by cheque or cash, we operate “payment on presentation
of invoice” method, payment of the invoice – within
the specific time shown on the current invoice rendered.
SHORT PERIOD CANCELLATION
It is our practice to charge for the time on risk
(either pro-rata or short period dependent upon the insurer)
plus our fees as shown above, should a policy be cancelled
during the term of the policy.
Please note if the insurer and underwriter
charge minimum and deposit premiums, there will be no return
premium and the full annual premium will be required in all
circumstances.
MAKING A CLAIM
If you have occasion to claim on your policy, you
must notify us immediately, or your Insurer if they provide
a Claims Helpline facility. We will promptly advise you and,
if appropriate, issue you with a claim form and pass all details
to your Insurer.
You should not admit liability nor agree
to any course of action, other than emergency measures carried
out to minimise the loss, until you have agreement from your
Insurer.
